At the helm of SchoolSpan is a diverse team of people who bring together every facet of educational technology. We have brought together experts in technology, application development, educational administration, school public relations and design to offer the only solution that meets the needs of today's educators.
Sojin Lim
President
As the co-founder and vice president of CompUtopia since 1982, Ms.
Lim has taken the small start-up into a 46 employee IT firm servicing
business and academic clients throughout New England. She attended
Wesleyan University and the Ewha Women's University. Offering a suite
of solutions for higher education and K-12 has enabled CompUtopia
to grow strategic accounts across the region, including Roger Williams
University, Providence College, Salve Regina University and a number
of public and independent schools. Ms. Lim has developed relationships
with the firm's growing list of clientele as well as strategic partnerships
with Hewlett Packard, Apple, IBM and Microsoft. In addition to teaching
at the Rhode Island Korean School, she serves on the advisory board
of Hewlett Packard's New England region and has been appointed to
the Rhode Island Governor's Council for Minority Affairs.
Jin Joo Lee, Ph.D.
Vice President of Product Development
A well-regarded expert in database and academic application development, Dr. Lee holds advanced degrees in Computer Science from Brown University and the University of Florida. As the lead for SchoolSpan product development and for CompUtopia's line of education solutions, she has led the creation of student information systems, course management platforms, academic digital portfolios and alumni portal systems. A former engineer with LSI Logic, Dr. Lee was an assistant professor of computer science at San Jose State University. At the University of Florida, she led government funded research projects in the areas of military mission planning using Simulation and Artificial Intelligence methods.
Sam Ji
Director of Programming and Technology
A former math teacher, Mr. Ji is a seasoned programmer who has developed a wide array of solutions for educational and healthcare institutions.
In addition to developing many of the SchoolSpan modules, he has produced CompUtopia's line of academic solutions including PTS Online, course management system; as well as Simply SMS, a student information system. Mr. Ji has also produced an online order processing system for local hospitals, e-commerce platforms as well as a number of GUI-based applications for business clients to ease with collaboration and application interface design. He continues to manage SchoolSpan's and CompUtopia's team of programmers.
