History of SchoolSpan
SchoolSpan is the creation of one of the leading technology providers in the northeast, coupled with some of the leading experts in school public relations and educational technology.

SchoolSpan is a division of CompUtopia, one of New England's leading technology solution providers. Since their inception in 1982, CompUtopia has worked with a wide range of academic institutions, from leading universities to public and private K-12 schools of every size and budget. With clients ranging from small schools to Fortune 1000 companies, we establish and maintain our long-term relationships by delivering technology that solves problems??.not create new ones.

In recent years, CompUtopia has released a number of successful academic applications including classroom management, web page development for K-12 districts as well as alumni portals and academic computing solutions for higher education clients.

The concept behind SchoolSpan is based on the school public relations efforts of Elliott Levine. As the former director of communications for the Lawrence (NY) Public Schools, he gained recognition as an expert in school web sites and electronic school communication. In addition to numerous awards and grants, he earned the National School Public Relations Association Award of Excellence in 2000 for School District Web Site.

Having worked in educational software and technology for the past five years, he has authored several articles on technology and school public relations for the National School Boards Association and the American Association for School Administrators. In early 2004, Levine and CompUtopia have partnered to introduce an expanded suite of tools based on their successful formulas. Using proven public relations strategies tested over a number of years, the input of leading educators and marketing experts, and CompUtopia's team of programmers and application developers, SchoolSpan represents the next generation of content management solutions.
