 Alcorn School District
Located in Corinth, Mississippi, the Alcorn School District has a very simple but heart-felt motto - "Children - Our #1 Priority". The school system supports an enrollment of 3,800 students across 12 schools.
Alcorn school officials were seeking a plan to enhance its communication with parents and community residents. While the district offers a wealth of programs targeting student achievement and parental involvement, their electronic communication demands were increasing. Their web site featured little new information and was not a regular destination for stakeholders.
Using SchoolSpan, Alcorn was able to quickly expand its publishing abilities and carry a consistent message. The new design incorporated the district's colors and brought real-time information to the web site's front page - such as news, weather and events.
The simple applications empowered the district's community engagement liaison to manage the new site and publish more information in the same amount of time she allocated from her daily tasks.
Not only has the web site attracted the attention of parents - who are now re-visiting their new district web site and subscribing to receive weekly newsletters - but the local media has also taken an interest in the results. The daily newspaper in the region has featured the district's new web site and the praise it has already earned from parents and fellow educators.
