 Richmond County Schools
Located in the Sandhills of North Carolina, the Richmond County School System serves the approximately 8,300 students who attend the district's eighteen public schools.
A well-recognized district in the region, Richmond's web site did not support that reputation. Designed several years ago using Microsoft FrontPage, the web site was in need of a facelift. Additionally, publishing was limited to a handful of central office staff members, but they wanted to empower more staff to contribute information to the web site. The welcome page included a series of links, but featured no new informationˇ¦leaving visitors uncertain if the web site included any new content.
Using SchoolSpan, Richmond was able to quickly expand its publishing abilities. Using a variety of publishing levels, the district's webmaster was able to share publishing rights with more staff - while still maintaining editorial control.
Using SchoolSpan's Welcome Page, a new template was used to match both the district's colors and the design of the existing pages. Without having to update any of its internal pages - a task that would have meant a tremendous overhaul - the entire site had a new look and feel. Existing pages now load inside the frame of the SchoolSpan design, giving them the look they wanted without the time or cost.
The welcome page now features the latest news stories, weather, special announcements and calendar events, making it a primary source of information for the school community.
