SchoolSpan's 2010 "Try Us You will like Us" Grant Competition Window Opens
WARWICK, Rhode Island (Jan 18, 2010) - SchoolSpan's annual Web MakeOver Grant has provided districts the opportunity to turn their site from outdated to state-of-the-art. The Grant has been a success with the awarding of six school districts in 2009. Starting February 1, 2010, we will accept applications to award up to 3 (three) districts per month the new Try Us You will like Us Grant until June 15, 2010.
Districts can visit www.schoolspan.com to complete an online application, email bchaney@schoolspan.com or call 800.289.1622 extension 697 to request additional information. In addition to completing an online application, district personnel can attend a 30-minute webinar to learn more about the SchoolSpan solution. Applications are due by the last Monday of each qualifying month in order to arrange for a designated and convenient time to learn about the new web site solutions and features.

An array of department, school and district modules, including various calendars, newsletters, file manager, form generator, eblast solutions, task assignments, system update notices, group creation, largewidget libraries as well as distinct teacher portals.
Interactive classroom sites/portals allow the teacher or leader to implement schedules, references, activities and to encourage outside of the walls of the classroom communication and learning.
There are available, as a low one- time cost, Comprehensive email solutions using Microsoft-based systems that SchoolSpan can initiate.
Today's budget and communication challenges mandate efficient yet powerful web solutions. "Our applications and database tools provide the complex programming which schools cannot do on their own, and unlike other third-party portal solutions, SchoolSpan delivers communication tools designed for K-16 schools.
Districts in 24 states now use SchoolSpan for their web solutions including districts of 150 to 50,000 students.
Schools awarded the grant will receive a complete web site makeover, including selections from existing front page designs and the tools to port content from their existing web sites to aid during the included train the trainer training session(s). Schoolspan solutions aid in content creation and editing, designing web page appearance and structure, and controlling placement and publishing authorities for an entire page or merely one singular widget. Setup fees and hosting fees will be subsidized through the grant, valued according to the size of the district. School, dept. and classroom site creation is included within the solution base.
After consultation, prior to SchoolSpan building the site, SchoolSpan will provide an agreement for clarification of the important details for our mutual approval. While there may be some changes to meet your needs, the agreement will outline a basic understanding of both parties' commitment. The grant will consist of this offer extending for a period of 6 months from date of build creation or a 2010 eRate funding release whichever occurs first. After acceptance of the agreement and the grant period, districts are expected to retain the SchoolSpan web site service for a period of three additional years to June 30, 2013.
Unusually high storage or throughput requirements, high number of departmental web sites may require an additional but reasonable charge. Custom high quality graphic work that can include flash generated images on your district mural or any other web site mural is often provided but at an additional charge. Generally, we encourage districts to turn on their new site within 6 to 8 weeks of the new site's build. At the time of thesite going live the district can select their same or new url.
