SchoolSpan's 2008 Web Makeover Grant

SchoolSpan's 2008 Web "Makeover" Grant Competition Window Opens

Schools in need of a website "makeover" may be selected by SchoolSpan for a free makeover

WARWICK, Rhode Island (April 14, 2008) - SchoolSpan's fourth annual Web Makeover Grants will be providing up to five qualified districts a chance to turn their site from obsolete to state-of-the-art.

Starting April 15 2008 districts may visit www.schoolspan.com to complete an online application or call 800.289.1622 extension 697 to request additional information. In addition to completing an online application, district personnel must attend a 30-minute webinar to learn about the SchoolSpan solution. Applications are due by July 20, 2008.

SchoolSpan is a leading provider of interactive add-on web site modules for K-12 school districts. These modules turn static web sites into dynamic portals of information, using specially-designed tools including:

  • An array of school and district modules, including calendars, newsletters, document libraries, surveys and alumni portals
  • Interactive classroom course sites designed for students of all grade levels
  • Comprehensive email solutions using Microsoft-based systems

"Today's information age has placed greater demands for electronic communication in schools," said Vice President for Strategic Planning Elliott Levine. "Our applications provide the complex programming schools cannot do on their own, and unlike other third-party portal solutions, SchoolSpan delivers communication tools designed for K-12 schools without company logos on your site."

Districts in 20 states now use SchoolSpan for their web solutions including districts ranging from 150 to 150,000 students.

Schools awarded the grant will receive a complete web site makeover, including custom design and porting over of content from their existing web sites (all design, setup fees and hosting fees will be subsidized through the grant, valued at up to $20,000 per district). District, school and classroom modules will be provided for their entire district for a year at no cost. After the grant period, districts will be able to access the entire suite of solutions for as little as $1/year per student.
